Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the cost? Nothing. All of our school programs are offered for free to provide a barrier-free learning opportunity. Donations by school groups are greatly appreciated and can be a great opportunity to talk about topics such as fundraising and community support in the classroom before visiting the museum.

How far in advance to book? – Dates are on first come basis starting March 15.

Minimum # of students? – None

Maximum # of students? – Grades 1 – 2 a maximum of 15 – 20 / Grade 3 – 5 a maximum of 15 (but ideally 12). Due to the limited size of our Museums, we will offer to split classes into 2 smaller groups that can tour different locations at the same time more comfortably.

Age restrictions? – None, although accessibility may be an issue for some. The Flatiron and Michener House have steep stairs (one step at the Blacksmith Shop), space is limited at Michener so strollers would need to be kept outside.

Parking? – Free Parking is available adjacent to the Michener Museum, as well as the parking lot at the Lacombe Memorial Centre located at 51 Avenue and 52 Street, one street west of Michener Museum.

Clothing? – Weather permitting some activities take place in Michener House garden. If the weather is bad we have indoor activities to do instead.

What activities are available? – Various activity booklets/sheets depending on location and event/season. All are catered to different age groups. Demonstrations can be offered at various events/Locations.
