A Time to Remember - Remembrance Day at the Flatiron Museum

The Flatiron Museum will be open on November 11, 2015

In conjunction with its current exhibit Lest We Forget: Our Brave Hearts 1914-1919, The Museum will be displaying copies of the Lacombe & County Honour Roll that memorialize each individual who served in Canada’s Wars from the Lacombe and Lacombe County Region. 

Unfortunately, the list may be missing certain names and dates due to the state of current historical records. Please alert one of the museum staff members if missing information is known. With the public's assistance, it is our goal to Honour all who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces the from Lacombe and Lacombe County Region.



WWI Lest We Forget: Our Brave Hearts 1914-1918




Exhibit On Display From: July 23- July 2016

This centennial WWI Exhibit explores the local contribution of veterans from the Lacombe & County region. Artefacts on display include items from the collections of the Michener House Museum & Archives, Bentley Museum, Alix Museum, Mirror Museum and the Lacombe Legion.

Board Vacancy

The Lacombe & District Historical Society (L&DHS) is currently seeking a member to join the society's Executive Board.

Members of the Board direct the overall activities of the society and determine the annual Budget and Strategic Plan.

Are you looking to give back and get involved in the community? Are you passionate about heritage and the preservation of Lacombe's local history? Board members have a variety of life experiences and skill sets that complement each other and represent the diversity of our community.

The Board meets approximately once a month before the Monthly General Meeting, or when required.

The Museums have changed to their winter hours!

The Flatiron Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9-5 (Closed for Lunch from 12-1) and the Michener House Museum is open on Saturdays from 9-5 (closed for lunch from 12-1).

FREE DAILYGuided Walking Tours
2pm (June-August at the Michener House)

Guided walking tours of Lacombe's Murals and Historic Downtown are provided daily at 2:00 pm during the summer season (June to August). Hear stories from the past and learn about the murals and beautiful buildings located in Lacombe’s Historic Downtown. Donations appreciated.

Information for Groups

Group reservations are required for school and group tours. Call (403) 782-3933 to book a
guided tour for your group.

Guided tours of the Museums are available for FREE during hours of operations. Guided walking tours of Lacombe's Murals and Historic Downtown are available for FREE for schools groups. Private group bookings of the walking tour can be arranged at a charge of $50. These tours are available by reservation only. We also offer our tour services to bus groups, where a guide will hop-on and provide a tour of historic Lacombe at a rate of $50/ per tour. These tours all last between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

2015 Dates for Lacombe Blacksmith Shop Museum

The Blacksmith Shop Museum will be open to the public this summer on Sundays from 11am to 3pm in July and August.

Live public demonstrations will take place this summer from 11am to 4pm on: 
Canada Day July 1,
Lacombe Days July 25-26,
Alberta Open Farm Days August 23-23,
Lacombe Culture & Harvest Festival Sept. 26-27
            

Interested in becoming a blacksmith volunteer?    
The Blacksmith Shop volunteer committee meets once a month on the last Sunday of the Month from 11 am – 2pm at the Blacksmith Shop.

Annual General Meeting March 26, 2015



The Lacombe & District Historical Society will be hosting their Annual General Meeting at 7:00 pm on Thursday March 26, 2015 at the Flatiron Museum located at #100, 5005 - 50th Avenue in Lacombe.

Everyone is welcome to join us at the meeting to learn about the activities of the society in 2014 and what we have planned for 2015. The society operates the three Museums in the City of Lacombe and a community archives.

Membership with the society is only $20/ year. more information can be found under the membership section on our site.

We are always looking for volunteers to help at the Museums, community events and celebrations and general support of the society so we can continue the work we do in the community.
